Omegaverse is a romance and speculative fiction subgenre built around alternative social and biological systems, often featuring alphas, betas, and omegas. Omegaverse stories often include heightened attraction, pack dynamics, physical and emotional bonding and intense relationship tension.

With roots in fanfiction, omegaverse story structures can be found in contemporary, paranormal, fantasy and science fiction settings. Alpha is a character designation associated with protective instincts, dominance, territorial behavior who often, depending on the worldbuilding, experience rut cycles

Beta is a character designation consisting of the general population who are usually outside of the alpha/omega dynamic'
